To Our Community
Our hearts go out to everyone in our community, to families who have lost loved ones, and to those who have someone who is ill, we hope for a full recovery. The trauma of COVID-19 will forever shape our species and our culture as a whole. The farm will be much quieter as all school tours have been canceled until after Spring Break. Also, at this time we will not have Member Day for the month of March, our sincere apologies. It is of highest priority to keep everyone—employees, members, and our families—in good health. We continue with our diligent “Good Agricultural Practices” (GAPs), as well as the added CDC recommendations.
On the farm at Griffin Creek, we are conscientiously working to get seeds in flats and tractors in the fields. We have two full greenhouses and are embarking on chard and celery over the next few days. These flats are always done by hand, only once a year and in large quantities. The seeds are very irregular in size, but some of the most beautiful in shape and color. We have finally cleaned up the last of the flooding damage in the fields, and it has been transformational.
We are sending many thanks and good health to you, all of our members. We encourage you to donate your box, or an added one, to Northwest Harvest in this time when many children and elderly are home and unable to get daily meals. Now is the time for us to care for those in need and recognize that we can all make a difference.
