Meet Your Farmer: Old Dog Ranch

This charming father-daughter duo, Roger and Mollie Sitkin of Old Dog Ranch offers a combination of talents—a perfect blend of old school farming with some trendy new school flavors, recipes and spices.

Walnuts are the forte of this fifth-generation family farm, named after the family’s two long-lived canine companions (Mollie Dog and Poppy). Located in the foothills along the Calaveras River in Northern California, their ten-acre orchard—where Mollie’s great-great-great grandfather raised forage crops for his sheep a century ago—was certified organic in 2015.

Roger Sitkin farms the walnuts, while his daughter, Mollie Sitkin, is responsible for creating and developing recipes for the family’s walnut products, including the addicting Rosemary Walnuts and the heavenly Raw Honey & Sea Salt Walnut Butter.

Creative new flavors are developed seasonally, and Mollie and her three-person crew grind, stir, season and toast Old Dog Ranch line of walnut snacks and walnut butters. Every product is made with organic Chandler walnuts from an orchard her father planted the year she was born.
