Dedicated Farmers
Farm News
This year has been a historically typical weather pattern, wet, cooler spring/ summer into June and then hot and dry beautiful blue-sky days in July. As we feel true exhaustion and know that the days are very long it really sinks in that we are dedicated farmers. Our days begin early with harvest at 5:00 am to beat the heat. By 10am we need to be done with the greens like lettuces and any root crops with tender greens like carrots otherwise we have to put off until the cooler evening sets in.
After a break we move into harvest of squash, cabbage and more heat tolerant veggies. After lunch, we may do some field work: cultivating weeds, last transplants and then head into finish and help folks in the wash station. This is a wonderfully cool environment and even though we can go pretty late into the evening we love knowing the veggies are cold, happy and ready for delivery in the morning.
Sleep is a precious commodity these days and we are happy to be in our hard-working element. As many farms head to the market, most of our vegetables head to the farm box program where you can customize your produce preferences and have it delivered straight to your door! As we cherish all of our moments outside surrounded by fresh organic produce the joy and mission we live and breath by is very worthwhile! Thank you as always to all of our members for your continued support.
