Box Packing Elves
The days are very chilly now! We had a strong squall of hail mid-day to keep us on our toes for our cabbage harvest. These are the days when it is preferable to be inside packing boxes.
This week, we would like to highlight the amazing job of our box packing elves, led by Jason who has been with us for many years. Jason is incredible at keeping everything running smoothly with our great local farmers and vendors. Many of the local farms here in Washington, including the home site at Griffin Creek Farm, deliver to Jason and crew in Seattle for the Pacific Northwest and Alaska deliveries.
I had a chance to ask Jason a few questions so you could gather a glimpse of the wonderful talent and dedication of the crew packing your boxes every week! I asked him when his team’s favorite time of the week is, what his favorite veggies are, and how long his team members have been with us.
Here are Jason’s answers:
“Our crew is hovering around 23 employees currently. Sisters Kiwi and Chuy, and Kim T. have all been here for over 10 years! Ramiro and Marlene have over 9 years, as well. I think new employees definitely enjoy seeing produce that they haven’t seen before, but on a weekly basis, they like Thursday because it’s the end of the week and they get to put their own boxes together. I enjoy Thursdays as well because the team is happy to reach the weekend and are excited to have fresh, healthy food to take home. Favorite veggies personally are artichokes, celeriac (thanks to Chris D. for turning me on to it) and asparagus. I would like to comment on the effort that the entire team puts into getting customers the products they want and the quality they expect. The team works hard to get it right!”
We would like to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! We think you do an outstanding job!
