Appreciation and Thanks
The days are rapidly decreasing in temperature and snow is visible in the Cascades from our fields. The skies are illuminated with migrating birds and the eagle pair in residence is busy rebuilding their nest and visibly offering up meals to each other—such avian love! When we take breaks, we are pulling off boots, adding warm layers, and gearing up to get back out in the elements, as we have moved into deep fall and early winter. The vegetables are sporting the colors of the season, outrageous bright greens to sage to purple and everything in between.
This week we will say goodbye to our dear friends and farm colleagues, Joaquin and Felicitas, who head back home every November, and we wish them great safety in returning to family. They give us enormous strength and beauty throughout our growing months and have been a part of our team for years. We could not do it without their hard work and love of the land! Thank you! We hope that 2021 sees them back at Griffin Creek.
As we head into Thanksgiving week, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our members, to the entire crew in the fields and packing sheds, to the many folks curating your weekly boxes and, as always, to the air, water and soil that nurture us all in good health. We know this year looks so different and gathering around a table inside with out-of-town guests may not be possible for many. We do hope that people can still find creative ways to celebrate with each other, perhaps outside and maybe starting a new tradition like kale s’mores!
Keep your immunity high and the greens abundant.
